'''Haki''' is the smaller of the two planets in the Pavala-Haki system, the larger being [[Pavala]]. It is by far the brightest object in the night sky, making nighttime on the Haki-facing side of Pavala bright enough that one can read.

In recent decades, Pavalans have begun colonizing Haki, with an exponentially rising number of people living on Haki.

== Astronomy ==

The dimmest objects visible to the naked eye on the Haki-facing side are around magnitude +2. The influence of Haki on the nighttime sky extends somewhat beyond the terminator, as in the region immediately beyond Haki's visibility, there is a red glow all night long on the horizon facing Haki from atmospheric scattering. This fades away beyond the region where Haki is around ten degrees below the horizon.

Eclipses of Haki by Pavala are very frequent, happening in two seasons per year. These seasons last for about ten to fifteen Pavalan days each (i havent checked precisely how long they are), meaning that for ~15% of days per year, Haki is visibly eclipsed at night. Haki also frequently eclipses Pavala, with total eclipses lasting slightly less time on Pavala than they do on Haki.

Pavala and Haki are at the perfect distance from each other to allow for very rare total eclipses of Haki as viewed from Pavala. During these eclipses, the minimum magnitude of visible object rises to +6 to +7 as on Earth during moonless nights. These total eclipses only occur a few times per decade and last for only a few minutes each. In pre-scientific times, these moments were seen as very special and feature frequently in mythologies across Pavala.

They have large claws but domesticated crabbits don't scratch and bite humans as much as cats do.

Blockheads are a diverse array of animals, ranging from the hammerhead lion, to the hammerhead cow, to the hammerhead monkey, to the blockhead seal. The lot of them like to use their heads to joust, and have horns, scales, other sorts of wild decorations on it. The head is king for these animals. Got lots of different mating signals on it, like feathers sometimes too. Eyes usually spaced far apart on the head. This helps the carnivorous lot of them hunt, and the herbivorous lot of them see to their sides. Gives some extra room for the brain, too, since these guys don't got very compact brain matter (unlike birds and humans). A lot of them have trunks, some both long necks and trunks (like a weird hammerhead elephant giraffe, if your mind can hold that).

The [[Human]] is a very intelligent animal capable of complex thought and emotion. As of the present day, humans dominate Pavala. It is believed that humans first emerged on the plateaus of [[Hvalozd]]. The oldest human-made artifacts in the world come from that region, dating as far back as -1,100,000Y. Artifacts from human ancestors appear on the western rifts around -800,000Y.

====Chimpanzee====

The Exactly Chimpanzee is the most closely related animal to humans on Pavala. It lives mainly in southern Hac, with the largest populations in [[Wuàm]] and [[Šratén]]. There are two different types of Exactly Chimpanzee, much as there are chimps and bonobos on the Earth. But on Pavala, instead of warlike crazy mentally ill chimpanzee and sweet incestuous sexual bonobo, there is the warlike crazy mentally ill chimpanzee and the chill isolating enlightened honoho that lives on the foothills of Tebua. It's too cold for the chimpanzees up there in the foothills. The honohos take care of their kids and stuff but they don't form big groups except when threatened by other bigger dangerous animals like [[asolenviis]], who they can sometimes be seen chasing down and subduing.

====Other great apes====

There are several other great ape species on Pavala, including the lorilla which lives in the cloud forests on the eastern side of [[Khydea]]. Lorillas are the largest and strongest of the great apes, with huge rippling muscles which they don't even use for anything other than sometimes males showing off and competing for dominance. There is also the loredutan which is like an orangutan but red, super chill like orangutans, and sometimes they use red ochre to cover their fur. The loredutans live on [[Masiuna]] of [[Ganuo]], with small populations on the mainland.

Pavala also has the scary Bigfoot animal great ape which Biglives in [[Nicho]] where they can reach as heavy as 200 kilograms eating nuts off trees and small animals besides, such as crabbits or hammerhead monkeys or et ceteras. We will call it the [[gormman]], gorm because it is disgusting and weird, and man because it walks upright like the human. They have disproportionately long arms compared to humans and can climb with ease.

There's a lot of extinct great apes too, both human ancestors and unrelated guys like the Cillipoidea which had long fur and lived in [[Tjedigar]] and likely Nicho too, but no fossils have been found there due to ice ages.

===Kiya===
The kiya is the primary pack animal and mount of Pavala. Its carrying capacity and top speed are both somewhat less than the equivalent horse, however the kiya is considered to be one of the most intelligent and social animals on Pavala and can be extensively trained to carry out tasks on its own. Kiyas have been bred over thousands of years and have various derivatives maximized for strength, speed, endurance, et cetera with a diverse array of color patterns. A Kiya kind of looks like a Utahraptor except herbivorous.

The knont (Unuvi: ''Hshila'') is a two-legged creature, much like an orinthopod, with the milk production capabilities of a cow and the wool-growing capabilities of a sheep. They make a high pitched, croaking neigh from their long snouts and are not shy to spit on anything they find annoying. Underneath their massive cloud of wool is a lithe build which makes them generally unfit for meat cultivation compared to other domesticated animals. Their very ingrained herd mentality is augumented by their use of patterning in their wool to help identify members of social groups; their wool can have a wide range of both patterns and colors, but the quintessential knont has green-brown zebra-like stripes.

Being bipedal, knonts must bend over both to graze and to be milked. Their milk, is famed for its deliciously sweet, thick and creamy taste, though it is unsuitable to be refined into processed dairy products such as cheese because it does not easily separate.

===Kóvi===

Kóvi are bird-like species of the clade Paraves, closely related to birds. They are slender paravians with long legs and large beaks. Kóvi are typically predatory carnivores, preying on smaller species of paravians and hexavians, while others are omnivorous and even herbivorous. Some species, like the Amalthean akhiluŋi, can be very intelligent, with a similar cognitive ability to dogs. As a result, some species are kept as pets. Most species are flightless.

===Shirn===
The shirn is a [[Hexapod|six-legged]] beast that is around the scale of a cow, but flatter and laying closer to the ground. It has a long snout that it uses to graze, and the sound it makes is similar to that of a bassoon. It has a long tail which it uses for primitive social cues with other members of its herd. Shirns grow thin brown / black wooly coats which are difficult to shave off. They are most prized for their meat production.

Tinmiles are widespreaad throughout [[Delezia-Hazele]] but are absent from Ivinis, having originally evolved on [[Edeto]] and spread to the rest of Delezia-Hazele after Edeto's collision with the supercontinent. Many tinmiles, including the [[zonk]] and the [[loop eater]] are highly intelligent and exhibit characteristics similar to dolphins and elephants on Earth.

The loop eater (Unuvi: ''dumtui'') primarily feasts on [[loop]]s, a small type of bug common throughout Pavala. Their frontmost pair of legs have evolved to have long, ladle-like structures known as [[loop scoops]] on the end which they use in order to dig into the ground and locate loops to eat with their long snout. Their appearance is superficially similar to that of a wild boar, with large amounts of hair across their entire body. Loop eaters are generally passive animals but will use their loop scoops to defend themselves from predators if provoked, and several species have evolved to have sharp tips on the end of their loop scoops.

Loop eaters are very social animals and males will joust against each other with their loop scoops in a sort of pseudo-fencing match in order to claim mates. Some loop eaters have even been observed burying their dead relatives.

===Zonk===

The zonk is a massive hexapod that could be mistaken for a dinosaur except it has fur and also there were never dinosaurs on Pavala. It has an extremely elongated neck like a giraffe which it uses to feast on the forest canopy. Zonks also have huge tusks which are prized throughout Pavala for their beauty. Edeto is famed for its long tradition of using [[war zonks]] in battle.

===Mako===
The Mako is a six legged cat, ranging in size from a small rabbit to a large rabbit. It has sharp canines with the ability to secrete venom, to kill and partially digest its prey. Its two front legs have the ability to produce a type of silk, it uses this to construct nets to catch its prey. The Mako is found mostly within the Meo Basin/Succlythia and neighbouring areas. It was domesticated in the Meo Basin and is a staple in the cultural iconography of the Meo people, where they are widely kept as agricultural helps to produce silk and eat pests, and also as domestic animals. The venom is not fatal to humans, although it may cause severe pain/illness to those that are allergic. Mako rarely bite humans, as they do not use their venom for defence. Antivenom is widely available, regardless.

===Fishing Cat===
Fishing cats are cats that have adapted to an semi-aquatic life style. They have webbed feet to help swim, and those that live near colder waters have thick fur like an otter. Their native range is throughout the Malaeze sea, and they live in both salt and freshwater, close to land, their range extends as far north as Aesanma. Some were domesticated by the Htaevic empire.

==Hexphins==

Hexphins are the [[hexapod]]al analogue of dolphins, and are widespread across Pavala's temperate waters. Unlike regular dolphins, hexphins generally have two sets of fins. They are highly social which makes them very well suited for [[dolphin racing]]. Though genetically distant from dolphins, convergent evolution has led to hexphins being considered a type of dolphin in popular culture.

Artifacts from human ancestors appear on the western rifts around -800,000Y.

The Exactly Chimpanzee is the most closely related animal to humans on Pavala. It lives mainly in southern Hac, with the largest populations in [[Wuàm]] and [[Šratén]]. There are two different types of Exactly Chimpanzee, much as there are chimps and bonobos on the Earth. But on Pavala, instead of warlike crazy mentally ill chimpanzee and sweet incestuous sexual bonobo, there is the warlike crazy mentally ill chimpanzee and the chill isolating enlightened honoho that lives on the foothills of Tebua. It's too cold for the chimpanzees up there in the foothills. The honohos take care of their kids and stuff but they don't form big groups except when threatened by other bigger dangerous animals like [[asolenviis]], who they can sometimes be seen chasing down and subduing.

There are several other great ape species on Pavala, including the lorilla which lives in the cloud forests on the eastern side of [[Khydea]]. Lorillas are the largest and strongest of the great apes, with huge rippling muscles which they don't even use for anything other than sometimes males showing off and competing for dominance. There is also the loredutan which is like an orangutan but red, super chill like orangutans, and sometimes they use red ochre to cover their fur. The loredutans live on [[Masiuna]] of [[Ganuo]], with small populations on the mainland.

Pavala also has the scary Bigfoot animal great ape which Biglives in [[Nicho]] where they can reach as heavy as 200 kilograms eating nuts off trees and small animals besides, such as crabbits or hammerhead monkeys or et ceteras. We will call it the [[gormman]], gorm because it is disgusting and weird, and man because it walks upright like the human. They have disproportionately long arms compared to humans and can climb with ease.

There's a lot of extinct great apes too, both human ancestors and unrelated guys like the Cillipoidea which had long fur and lived in [[Tjedigar]] and likely Nicho too, but no fossils have been found there due to ice ages.

===Kiya===
The kiya is the primary pack animal and mount of Pavala. Its carrying capacity and top speed are both somewhat less than the equivalent horse, however the kiya is considered to be one of the most intelligent and social animals on Pavala and can be extensively trained to carry out tasks on its own. Kiyas have been bred over thousands of years and have various derivatives maximized for strength, speed, endurance, et cetera with a diverse array of color patterns. A Kiya kind of looks like a Utahraptor except herbivorous.

The knont (Unuvi: ''Hshila'') is a two-legged creature, much like an orinthopod, with the milk production capabilities of a cow and the wool-growing capabilities of a sheep. They make a high pitched, croaking neigh from their long snouts and are not shy to spit on anything they find annoying. Underneath their massive cloud of wool is a lithe build which makes them generally unfit for meat cultivation compared to other domesticated animals. Their very ingrained herd mentality is augumented by their use of patterning in their wool to help identify members of social groups; their wool can have a wide range of both patterns and colors, but the quintessential knont has green-brown zebra-like stripes.

Being bipedal, knonts must bend over both to graze and to be milked. Their milk, is famed for its deliciously sweet, thick and creamy taste, though it is unsuitable to be refined into processed dairy products such as cheese because it does not easily separate.

Kóvi are bird-like species of the clade Paraves, closely related to birds. They are slender paravians with long legs and large beaks. Some species, like the Amalthean akhiluŋi, can be very intelligent, with a similar cognitive ability to dogs. As a result, some species are kept as pets. Most species are flightless.

Edeto is famed for its long tradition of using [[war zonks]] in battle.

The Mako is a six legged cat, ranging in size from a small rabbit to a large rabbit. It has sharp canines with the ability to secrete venom, to kill and partially digest its prey. Its two front legs have the ability to produce a type of silk, it uses this to construct nets to catch its prey. The Mako is found mostly within the Meo Basin/Succlythia and neighbouring areas. It was domesticated in the Meo Basin and is a staple in the cultural iconography of the Meo people, where they are widely kept as agricultural helps to produce silk and eat pests, and also as domestic animals. The venom is not fatal to humans, although it may cause severe pain/illness to those that are allergic. Mako rarely bite humans, as they do not use their venom for defence. Antivenom is widely available, regardless.

Fishing cats are cats that have adapted to an semi-aquatic life style. They have webbed feet to help swim, and those that live near colder waters have thick fur like an otter. During and after its collapse, there existed separate states on Masiuna and Ekenta from about 8900Y to 8990Y, before a civil war struck the Masiuna nation, cleaving off much of the peninsula into an independent state. Many Masiunans at this time migrated away from Masiuna to both Ekenta and northern [[Edeto]]. Those that went to Edeto mostly assimilated with the existing culture.

Paisna is the oldest continuous religion, indigenous to [[Ganuo]] where most of its adherents live. It developed out of the pre-<<gyėša>> culture, mixing heavily during the first rifts-ganuoan dynasty, becoming a syncretic mixture of the two. It is possible to find two different Paisnaists that disagree on almost every possible issue in the religion, due to continuous branching and a lack of universally agreed upon canon. Paisnaists tend to gather at places of worship whenever the mood strikes for intercessions from the gods in personal affairs, as the temples have more supernatural power than the rest of the world, putting them closer to the gods. The process of establishing a new temple is very involved in order to bring the power from an already existing temple to the new one being established.

There is a vast array of gods, of which individuals often have one that influences their life much more than the others. They all come in pairs, a version to rule over Pavala and a version to rule over Haki. The Paisna gods are usually regarded as impersonal forces that can manifest in bodies, and more common gods often have a number of different bodies that they can manifest as. Gods can manifest new bodies whenever they wish. There are rare events where a devoted group of Paisnaists say that a god is actively manifesting a new body. Whenever this happens, they gather and together create statues aiming to represent the new body as best they can while communally fasting, praying, and for certain branches, [[Paisna imagery|visualizing]] or consuming [[Hatapa|hatapa]] to directly see the new body.

Who a person's most influential god is, is seen as the god choosing a person. In ancient times, one person usually only worshiped and acted on behalf of one god, and people who worshiped many gods were unusual, but since the 9700s worshiping multiple gods at once has become more common. People who worship many gods often still are considered chosen by one specific god, but some are chosen by no gods at all or by many at once. Today, the majority of active Paisnaists say they are chosen by one god (63%), with a large minority chosen by no gods (22%), and most others chosen by five or more at once (11%). Many Paisnaists believe that there is no such thing as an atheist, and that they are simply a person who has not been chosen by any god yet.

Occasionally, people claim that a god has chosen to manifest as them and they are treated as having become a body of that god, but if that person begins behaving in a way incongruous with that god, they may be murdered, and that god would need to manifest a new body. When this happens, Paisnaists believe that a god who is an enemy of the god who is in that body is fighting over the body, entering it and attacking it, causing the person who is a god to behave erratically.

There are several overlapping texts regarded as canonical in Paisna. Venezuela is the holy text most commonly referred to, stuffed full of ritual prayers and incantations for visualizing various bodies of gods, as well as a 15,000 word long tale regarding the origins of the sky and the [[Haki in Paisna|globes]]. It also contains three different overlapping sets of instructions for the proper creation of a new temple, written centuries apart from each other in completely different contexts. Sugo is a hot-weather crop domesticated originally in [[Ganuo]], which spread slowly through the tropics east and west. It is closely related to Pavala's diverse and abundant [[Seagrass|seagrasses]], and grows small salt-rejecting organs derived from leaves that lie along the stem and near the base of the plant. The fruit it grows can be of nearly any color except green or black. Modern standardized industrial sugo is orangeish yellow. The number of calories per acre per year that can be grown with sugo is very high, around 13,500,000 calories per acre per year in ideal conditions. The plants grow specialized stems which contain few leaves and are topped by many many sugo fruits in clusters one or two feet high.

Siwa is a featureless blue planet in the inner [[Yakeic System]]. It is gas giant classification III in Sudarsky's gas giant classification<sup>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudarsky%27s_gas_giant_classification]</sup>, meaning it has no upper level visible clouds. Its 'surface' temperature is over 100°C, although since it has no upper cloud decks, its surface is even trickier to define than for most gas planets. Siwa is just large enough to be visible as more than merely a point of light with the unaided eye, especially when on the closer side of its orbit. It shares this property with [[Evonir]]. It is usually the third brightest object clearly visible in the sky, after [[Yakei]] and [[Haki]] (for those living in the Haki hemisphere, anyway).

The Rifts-Ganuo language family is a language family spoken by majorities in the rifts separating [[Delezia]], [[Házélé]], and [[Aitoma]], by minorities in the western hills of [[Hac]], the southern portions of [[Nicho]], and by almost all residents of [[Ganuo]]. The most commonly spoken language of the Rifts-Ganuo family is [[Ganuoan language|Ganuoan]], by over one billion people in Ganuo and by many more worldwide. The total number of speakers of all the other languages in the family is less than a tenth that of the number of speakers of Ganuoan. The family contains <<between 100 and 200>> languages in <<seven or eight>> different lineages descending from the language Proto-Rifts-Ganuo, (oft abbreviated as PRG). Most today have either a pitch accent system, such as Ganuoan, or simple tonal systems.

They were more proficient with boats when compared to other peoples in the area. Their cultural organization was that of a small 'homeland' with many trade colonies along the rifts in spots with <<more water/a river/a harbor, waiting on climate>>. Many words from Proto-Rifts-Ganuo, especially ones related to ships, were borrowed by other languages of the area and many from other languages were borrowed into it, especially for goods found most often in its trading colonies.

The Rifts-Ganuo languages spread from their origin, becoming the dominant language family along the rifts between 5N and 30N, and between 25E and 45E in the north within a thousand years of their origination. They continued to spread from there, becoming dominant in the parts of Nicho south of 45N within another thousand years. Its maximum expansion to the north and west of the urheimat reached <<the third major lake of the northwest rift>>, as well as northwards to the glacial lakes, beyond 50N. Around 7000Y, it rapidly expanded and replaced the old Ganuoan languages, becoming the prestige variety spoken in Ganuo. It then began slowly declining in Nicho and in the rifts until the present, but it remains dominant today in Ganuo. The region between [[Hac]] and Ganuo, today occupied by [[Kasi]], has switched back and forth between speaking [[Hac languages]] and Rifts-Ganuo languages since 7500Y.
