Laubsar is a domesticated version of the wild-growing drought-tolerant grass known as H. stilporyeri that grows in the far north of the Great Northern Desert, and along river courses throughout it. The domesticated variety is one of the staple crops of Pavala, and is the 3rd most frequently grown crop worldwide. It is the most important crop in Amaio, Nicho, and throughout much of the Great Northern Desert. It has been adapted to a wide variety of climates and is today frequently grown in Meo, Edeto, and Ivinis. Most grainy pastes in cuisines worldwide are derived from laubsar flour, and its presence in modern dishes is increasing, due to its weaker natural flavor allowing it to be more easily incorporated into a variety of dishes in nearly every local cuisine.
