Pavala has a variety of parasitic species throughout all of life, including parasitic animals. Thousands of people die yearly from Hoaxan disease, a syndrome caused by the only parasitic animal known to infect humans. Parasites have caused a great deal of misery and suffering in Pavala's past, and continue to do so in its present, although modern medicine has alleviated this greatly for humans and their livestock.
