The island of Unuvun is the principal island in the Unuvi Archipelago. Located on the southern rim of Delezia-Hazele, its climate is dominated by the global circumpolar current, which bring torrential amounts of rain to the western plains of the island. It is one of the cultural hearths of Pavala as it was here that the Udàshe developed.

Etymology

The name Unuvun is an endonym, derived from the Old Unuvi phrase un u vun (lit: 'land at corner'). Though, it is technically an exonym as the literal translation was adapted from the name commonly used by other states in the Htaevic Rouge.

Geology

[Southwest is terrane split off from Nokhta-Ivinis, rest is from subduction volcanic arc that got split into two by back arc basin]

[Off coast of Hsuvei plain is a big shelf - both of these regions are NOT karst/limestone but rather have more stable bedrock so i can have my massive subway systems]

Ecology

The island can be mainly divided into three separate sections: The flat southwest, hilly north-central and fjord-carved east. The southwest plains, mainly the Hsuvei Plain, have long been developed into an agricultural heartland. However, forests of indigenous <redwood trees> still remain in the hilly north and central regions, reaching upwards of a hundred meters in height. The vast majority of the trees on the island are evergreen, and there are numerous different species of fruits trees that have been cultivated.

History

Main article: History of Unuvun

Udàshe Era (6,200 Y - )

Large communities of rice farmers had begun to form around The Flow's tranquil shores, spurring the development of more advanced boating technology and the rise of many early trading cities. The growing naval tradition allowed for further journeys northwards, and in the mid 6,000's cities at [the far northern guard] had established trading routes with Nokhta, extending the [system of trade from north nohkta to south nohkta] all the way to The Flow. Trade with Nokhta led to the gradual spread of iron-working technologies to the island around 6,600 Y, catalyzing the First Defragmentation: Under the rule of King Rvun, the trading city of Fèinfal conquered the various cities around The Flow as well as the Pacific Lake, forming the Udàshe Empire. After his assassination in 6,702 Y and the subsequent rise of the Crab Priest, the Udàshe Empire conquered the Hsuvei Plain and established a Holy City beneath the [mountain where haki sits in it and it's also a really tall volcano].

[this was a time of great philosophical development, and centralization] [most of the crops and animals were imported or already domesticated by this time period]

[im thinking this ends with the breakup of the empire in civil war but idk how]
