The Symphony, also known as the Four Windward Wars, was a turbulent period that began in 9,889 at the Naera Technological Exposition with the assassination of Emperor Fihano and ended in 9,970 with the signing of the Concert of Delezia.
Phases
Part I. The Imperiums' Tempest. After the assassination of Emperor Fihano by Linyenian Retaliz Hawina, Rokhtaera and the Nautical Peace issue a joint declaration of war on the nation of Linyen. Zandaera aligns itself with Linyen, and Mæflara declares its neutrality, but is soon invaded by Zandaera and joins forces with the Delezian Alliance. The war is quick and bloody; lasting only a few short years, it ends with the ceding of large portions of southwestern Linyen to the Alliance, as well as the creation of the Zaphæ buffer state between Zandaera and Veiivinis, the Nautical Peace's Ivinis territories. The conclusion of the war began a fierce arms race, as the Eastern Pact vowed to never again be humiliated by the Delezian Alliance.
Part II. Crimson Monsoon. Earning its name from the observation that it "never stopped raining blood", the Crimson Monsoon was the longest of the Four Windward Wars. Lasting a brutal 6 years, it saw the introduction of trench warfare as the Eastern Pact desperately tried to protect the early gains that they had made early in the war. While the Delezian Alliance began to push back, they were soon distracted by the Meó Empire's declaration of war against the Sixth Htaevic Empire. It is estimated that a combined 18 million people died on the Ivini and Delezian fronts of the war, with little territory exchanging hands.
Part III. The Great Realignment. A secret treaty had been negotiated between the Meó Empire and Rokhtaera in which they agreed to carve up the Sixth Htaevic Empire. The two powers expected the Nautical Peace to remain neutral, however the Peace unexpectedly joined forces with the Sixth Htaevic Empire as they waged their war for survival. Seeking an opportunity to reclaim Zaphae, Zandaera declared war on the Peace. However, the Peace was able to bribe Linyen to join in on their side of the war against Zandaera. The war ended in a
