Nadir was the code name of the first successful detonation of a nuclear weapon, conducted in cooperation by Rokhtaera and the Nautical Peace on the uninhabited Chenrul Island near the South Pole at 86°S latitude. The test occurred a mere two weeks after an earlier detonation attempt by Meó in the Great Rift failed to ignite.
Due to a miscommunication, three Rokhtaeran scientists were present on the island during the detonation. Although they were far enough to avoid radiation from the blast, nuclear fallout from the event fell onto their campsite and one scientist suffered radiation burns after wind blew fallout into their tent.
The test remained top secret until after Operation Boil the Crab, when both the Delezian Alliance and the Meó-Zandaera Alliance began using nuclear weapons in Windward War IV.
